Since starting my little Twitter experiment it has taken me a little over three and a half weeks to generate 1000 followers.
I have been very active in the three weeks looking for specific types of people to follow and basically following back anyone who started following me who fit my original criteria.
I have to admit though, I have not been absolutely strict with who I follow back, as I do have quite a few accounts that only have a corporate image or logo and not a real persons photo.
It has really supprised me though, at the difference having this type of Twitter strategy has made to the traffic to my blog.
I would say that I get at least ten to twenty times more traffic from my follow back account than from my original account. So there is definitely something to be said about this type of twitter strategy.
In the three weeks I have tried various follow me follow you web sites, and to be honest the results haven’t been all that good.
One in particular is he Christian site twelloship.com, I found the followback response from that site to be extremely poor and not worth the investment in time.
The best technique I have found for finding people proactively using a similar method to me, is by going to specific niche related accounts, in my case it’s the Prayer sites or popular Christian pastors, and look through both lists of people who are following them or who they are following.
I have specificall been targeting people to follow who have posted to twitter in the last twenty four hours.
If someone isn’t proactively using twitter throught each day I am finding they are not that likely to follow me back.
But WOW 1000 followers in less than a month without using any Automated programs.
